Spina Group has been selected to supply fittings for the Wolfsburg West power plant, also known as Werk Wolfsburg, a 306 megawatt (MW) coal-fired power plant in Lower Saxony, Germany.
Wolfsburg West, together with the Wolfsburg North power plant, supplies electricity and heat to the Volkswagen plant in Wolfsburg and related urban areas.
The supply is part of the “green” project that will see both plants (Wolfsburg West and North) convert from coal to natural gas by 2022. The new high-efficiency gas turbines that will be installed in the Wolfsburg power plants will constantly reduce carbon dioxide emissions, due to the production of energy and heat, for a total of approximately 1.5 million tons less per year.
Specifically, Spina Group supplied materials such as steel pipes and relative collars, block & bleed needle valves and manifolds.
